Games in the Hub

We have been having lots of fun in the Hub playing games! Rubiks race has been one of the most successful games! Making patterns and versing each other is one of the things RSS people like to do!

New Books

We have lots of exciting new books coming out onto the shelves this term. The LEGO movie books are already out and about in classrooms and the Minecraft Handbooks will soon be joining them!  There are also some new Bear Grylls books and a great new series by Paul Jennings called 'Don't Look Now'.
If you would like to review a new book or have any requests for future purchases, please come and talk to Rebecca at lunchtime or after school.  Don't forget that the Hub is open before and after school most days as well as lunchtimes so you can return, reserve, borrow or just browse at those times too.

Welcome Back!

Hi there!

What a busy start to the year! We are already half-way through Term 1 and already hundreds of books have been flying off the shelves in the Hub.  We have lots of lovely new books on display each week and children have been reserving these like crazy! Don't forget if you have a new book to try and read it quickly as there is bound to be someone else waiting to read it.
Lunchtimes have also been busy with about 50 children each day enjoying the various activities the Hub has to offer. We have had some new games and puzzles kindly donated and these are starting to be used.
The Hub is also open after school most days for about half an hour so feel free to come and enjoy some of the new books and games, and adults can have a coffee!

End of the Year

It is hard to believe that another school year is nearly over!  Whatever you do though, don't stop reading! In the holidays you can borrow great books from the Palmerston North City Library and check their website for places the mobile library visits. It might stop near your house and it's an easy way to change your library books. Also second-hand shops have cheap books and for as little as 50c you might grab yourself an awesome read.
The Hub will be closing for issues at the end of November but keep bringing your returns as we will doing a stocktake in early December.

Great Series!

These are two books from the 'Sword Girl' series by Frances Watts. The first book in the series is 'The Secret of the Swords' and this sets the scene for the next 4 books. It makes sense to read this first but it is not essential to read the books in order.  These stories are fun and quick to read. They have interesting story-lines and a cool heroine called Tommy. You will find this series in the Adventure section of the Hub.
